Month Nominating Committee! Please contact Steve Kennedy if you have
time once a month to contribute to our neighborhood. |
| |
| From the AgriLife Extension of
the Texas A&M System: |
| Water supply has become a
critical issue for Texas's future prosperity. Booming
populations have increased demand on the state's already limited
supply of high quality water. In addition, seasonal fluctuations
in rainfall and periodic droughts have created a feast-or-famine
water cycle in Texas. |
| In urban areas of Texas, about
40-50% of the domestic water supply is used for
landscape watering. Much of this water is used to maintain high
water demanding landscaping, or it is simply applied
inefficiently. |
| You can help by creating a
water-efficient landscape. For additional information, see
http://EarthKind.tamu.edu. |
|
Water Efficiency Tips:
 |
| 1. Separate water zones in your
landscape and make sure you are not overwatering and don't water after
it rains (install a rain sensor if you don't have one already). |
| 2. Don't over saturate plant beds. |
| 3. Be sure to MULCH your landscape
beds and gardens - looks better, reduces evaporation, and keeps out
unwanted weeds. |
